Christine Ward GaileyProfessor Ph.D., New School for Social Research (New School University, NY), critical anthropology Office: 2005 CHASS Interdisciplinary Building Phone: (951) 827-6426 e-mail: christine.gailey@ucr.edu Professor Christine Gailey is Chair of the Department of Women's Studies and Professor of Anthropology and Women's Studies. At UCR the Chairs also teach courses and Christine welcomes this arrangement as a way to learn from students on a daily basis. Working with the dedicated faculty and staff of the department, Christine is helping to shape the future of this rapidly expanding department, committed to the understanding of women's varied experiences and forms of organizing around the world, the production of feminist theory informed by such diversity, and feminist practice in our communities, home lives, and classrooms. Christine came to UCR from her previous teaching positions at Northeastern University (Boston), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Graduate Consortium in Women's Studies at Radcliffe, and the State University of New York, College at Old Westbury. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and her Ph.D. from The New School for Social Research (New York).
